1973-74 Television Season 50th Anniversary: Here's Lucy (Lucille & Family - Merv Show 10/12/73 pt 3)
We continue our look back at the 1973-1974 television season, with a focus on the remarkable television career of Lucille Ball, whose series Here's Lucy, was coming to an end as it reached the end of its six year run.
Lucille made a special guest appearance on The Merv Griffin Show, appearing with her family, and some extra special surprise guests joining them (Bob Hope & Gale Gordon).
The interview episode was aired on October 17, 1973, and book-ended two key interviews she gave during that final season - this one with Merv, and a second with Dick Cavett in the winter of 1974, which we paid tribute to earlier this month.
This third segment of eight (yes, eight) for this special interview, ...

She was a reserved woman who had a way o touch your heart reading between the lines of a story about signing up for SAG . She brought up how much she respected her father, how her. Name was a recognition to the ideal of becoming a professional from the day she joined SAG. After all her struggles , she never let those struggles drive her car. As in opening credits of her show 1970 she driving her car alone with. A smile of anticipation. Of her life asMary Richard’s and in last scene of the series she’s the last one out of the set/ office looking around with a sad look but she turns her head forward looking to the future with an appreciation for the past with the.hat smile of anticipation as in the beginning f,re-edits when her show started. She had a way of making us realize life is a one way ticket and to make the most of every day, she certainly did and did it with dignity and class.

The only 2 shows that could do drama and comedy and make both work were MASH and All in the Family. You would think Carroll would be type cast. Not for a great actor like O'Connor. He went on for years to play a Southern Sherriff. A GREAT actor.

I loved all the episodes of Hawaiian Eye with a great cast that included Bob Conrad, Anthony Eisle, Connie Stevens and Poncie Ponce. Troy Donahue later joined the cast, but he was most unimpressive. Conrad and Eisle handled each episode magnificently. Each of the episodes was filled with intrigue, glamour, song and romance. Connie's voice was a must with one or two numbers in each episode and she delighted audiences with some of the old numbers from the 40's and 50's. My top fave episodes from this show are: Year of grace, Manila Assignment, Talk and you're dead, The doctor's lady and Boar Hunt. Each episode had great guest stars. This is one of the few series that is loved, even to this day. Would love to see restored and colorized versions of episodes from Hawaiian Eye.

"Thank you" for this! Mark Goddard, may he rest in peace, was definitely one of my favorite TV actors. He had a real drive to achieve something good in this world, other than being a Hollywood actor, and I, although this is a bit late in saying this, absolutely applaud him for his gift to teach young people. He was a great role model, in space or on earth, and he is greatly missed. Salute to the Major! 🇺🇸
